17 Feelings You'll Miss Once Summer Ends

Summer is most people’s favorite season for obvious reasons. And while there are so many things about fall to look forward to– a new semester, pumpkin spice lattes, and foliage, just to name a few– there are some feelings you can only experience during the hottest months of the year. Below are just some of them, which should also act as reminders to soak up as much of summer as possible in these next couple weeks, while you still can!
Taking a shower after being at the beach all day. I know few greater feelings than the relief and relaxation you feel after washing off the sweat, oil and sand off your body and out of your hair.
Putting on lotion after taking a shower. Nothing like giving all your sunburnt skin that moisture and hydration it needs.
Sleeping in. Because with fall, comes responsibilities like 8 am classes and internships…

Walking into an AC room/building after being in the smothering heat. It’s like coming home to a big, cold hug.
The easy comfort of flip flops. Your feet can actually breathe, they take no effort to throw on, and wearing them all summer gives you an excuse to get a pedicure. In the fall, well… you’re more liekly to settle for an at-home DIY one– if at all.
Jumping into the ocean, pool, or really any body of water. At first you might feel like you can’t breathe, but then it feels so nice…
Or getting pummpled by waves. So what if you look like a five year old? Your only real worry is that the wave doesn’t also take your bikini top/bottom with it…
Your hair blowing in the wind when you drive with all the windows down, or in a converitble. Yeah, you have a sh*tstorm of knots and tangles to deal with once you arrive at your destination, but for now it’s wonderful.

Walking outside at night and having it still be warm. In the fall (and don’t even get me started on the winter) you relish when the sun is out because although it is chilly, you at least have some warmth. But the second the sun sets, it drops at least 10 degrees. But in the summer you don’t have to worry about that.
Being on the beach, or a rooftop, or really anywhere at dusk when the sun is setting. Once summer is gone you’re lucky if you ever even leave your house, let alone to watch the sunset.
The refreshing taste of iced coffee. If you continue to drink ice coffee in the winter, you’re some type of savage.
Digging your hands/toes into sand.
Your skin/bathing suit/hair drying as you lay in the sun after jumping into pool/ocean.
Seeing your tanlines. Yeah, you might feel a little guilty about not wearing enough SPF, but let’s be real… everyone just looks better with a tan.

Having your tan act as your bronzer. Your skin is always glowing in the summer thanks, in large part, to the fact that you can get away with wearing less makeup when you spent the whole day in the sun.
The sound of the ice cream truck, even if you don’t get anything. It just brings you back to childhood.
Being able to spend time outside getting fresh air. Taking a morning run outside, walking to the store, eating lunch on a bench… really anything. This luxury is lost once the temperatures drop, and the only time you’re outside is when you are practically running to get to your destination as fast as possible before you get frostbite.
