The Position You Sleep In Determines Your Dreams

Do you ever have those strange dreams and possibly feel the urge to look them up in a dream dictionary or have to share them with you friends immediately? That could be a result of the way you slept the night before.
A study from 2012 conducted by Calvin Kai-Ching Yu, proposed the idea that the position you sleep in directly determines the types of dreams you’ll have. Yu used 700 test subjects in his study who had to sleep on their side, stomach or back. From this he found “Different sleep positions may create pressure on different parts of the body, and body feelings may be the sources of dream elements.”
So, what types of dreams is each sleep position more prone to? If you sleep on you belly, you are more than likely to have a more erotic style of dreaming. When it comes to side sleepers, which is the most popular sleep position, it gets a little more complicated. If you sleep on the right side, you’ll most likely have positive dreams. Left side sleepers are less likely to have nightmares. For the few who do sleep on their back, this is the worst position to sleep in. It leads to physical issues like back pains and snoring, but you’re also more prone to nightmares.
As someone who doesn’t have the most consistent sleep positions, sometimes I sleep on my side and other times my stomach, I don’t know how accurate I feel this is. I’m not sure if it’s because I haven’t remembered any of these dreams, but I definitely haven’t had any Fifty Shades-type dreams in recent memory. Sadly, I don’t have the most positive dreams either, so clearly there are other factors that determine your dreams too.
