Attention shopaholics and social media addicts (so, everyone): your bank account is about to suffer big time. Thanks to a new Facebook feature, you’ll be able to stalk your ex-boyfriend and purchase a new pair of heels to make yourself feel better without even opening a new tab.
On Monday, the social media site announced plans to add a mobile “shopping” tab to aid users in the immediate purchase of clothes, electronics, and anything else you can online shop for conveniently from the comfort of the already existing app. They say they have seen that people are coming to their website “not only to connect with friends and family but also with products and brands.”
Facebook will introduce new ads that make a dangerous “buy” button easily accessible in addition to making a retailer’s products ready to view without leaving your timeline. For example, if you click on a Forever 21 ad, Facebook will direct you to their version of an online shopping site where you browse through various Forever products before being redirected to the retailer’s website.
No exact word on when this will happen, but start saving your pennies.
