These Are The 5 Biggest Bombshells From Dylan Farrow’s First Interview

CBS

Dylan Farrow has been accusing her adopted father Woody Allen of molesting her for over two decades now. The assault happened in 1992, but in 2014 Farrow wrote an open letter about her assault published by The New York Times.

Even though Farrow has been fighting for the world to believe her and her assault she has never done a sit-down interview. The climate of Hollywood right now is perfect for Farrow to finally get the justice she deserves. The outing of Harvey Weinstein, which her brother Ronan Farrow helped with, #MeToo and #TimesUp movements will hopefully help Hollywood not just listen to Farrow but actually hear her.

Actors who have worked with Allen have been issuing apologies and donating their salary from those movies to organizations that help assault and abuse survivors. According to Vox, Rachel Brosnahan, Timothée Chalamet, Greta Gerwig, Rebecca Hall, David Krumholtz, Griffin Newman, Ellen Page and Mira Sorvino are the only actors to issue apologies.

Recently Selena Gomez has been wildly criticized for working with Allen. Her mom, Mandy Teefey wrote about her disapproval of her daughter working with Allen. “I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn’t click,” she wrote on Instagram. “No matter how hard you try to advise. it falls on deaf ears,” she concluded. Gomez auditioned five times for Allen’s newest movie A Rainy Day in New York.

Farrow’s first sit down interview about her assault and assailant Allen was heart-wrenching to watch. Here are the five biggest bombshells from her CBS interview.

1. Allen was Farrow’s hero.

The beginning of the interview starts with Farrow telling Gayle King, “I loved my father. I respected him. He was my hero. And that doesn’t obviously take away from what he did.” She then went on to say that because she loved her father so much his betrayal and the assault hurt that much more.

2. Farrow gave a detailed account of her assault.

In Farrow’s NYT letter she didn’t specify what happened when she was sexually assaulted. Farrow claimed that Allen “touched my labia and vulva with his finger.” When her mom, Mia Farrow, took her to the doctors Farrow originally told the doctor that Allen touched her shoulder because she was embarrassed

3. Farrow’s reaction watching Allen’s 60 Minutes segment denying the allegations.

King played Farrow a clip from Allen’s 60 Minutes segment from 1992 of him denying the molestation allegations. Before King played the clip she asked Farrow if she was okay to watch it. During the clip Farrow immediately became distraught. Her face was filled with sadness and disgust watching Allen try to undermine her truth. After the 60 Minute clip, Farrow began crying, “He’s lying and he’s been lying for so long. And it is difficult for me to see him and to hear his voice. I’m sorry.”

4. Farrow wishes she filed charges.

When the abuse allegations first happened the Connecticut state prosecutor for her case, Frank Maco, said there was probable cause to charge Allen but thought Farrow wouldn’t be able to handle the trial, especially a celebrity one. Turns out she wished they charged Allen. Farrow said she was already traumatized, so how much harm could a lawsuit actually bring?

5. Farrow calls Hollywood complicit.

King brought up the #TimesUp movements and Natalie Portman saying she believes Farrow. Farrow has been moved by the outpouring of support and apologies. Her story has been pushed aside for so long until now, “I have been systematically shut down, ignored or discredited. If they can’t acknowledge the accusations of one survivor’s how are they going to stand for all of us?”
