The most expensive clothing item we’ll ever buy will probably be our wedding gown. TV shows, like I Found the Gown and Say Yes to the Dress, have shown us how prices can easily hike up to the thousands and with high rates of weddings, it’s easy to splurge. Every bride envisions their grand entrance and while the dress will only be worn for a few hours, less if one chooses a reception dress, the process could take months and a whole lot of sweat and tears.
Wedding gowns are typically white, to symbolize purity, and InStyle reported that the tradition seemingly started with Queen Victoria, who wore white for her own ceremony. Since then, it’s been widespread for brides to don white for their big day, and those who don’t are immediately deemed non-traditional. However, over the years, brides have been slowly breaking from tradition. Ladies aren’t just wearing other colors, some are also shedding the notion that they have to wear a gown by wearing pants.
