Kehlani, a 23-year-old singer-songwriter, and dancer has been lighting up the stage with her queer and sensual voice. With hits like Honey, it makes us wonder, who has she dated are they ‘sweet and a little selfish’?
She was born in Oakland, California and rose to fame by being a member of a teen pop group known as Poplyfe. Following this, she made a mixtape in 2014 and her rise has been speeding up without signs of stopping any time soon.

Through her music and a public declaration of sorts on Twitter, she has made it clear that she is queer and as a result become an icon of sorts for other queer people. In her tweet she said

The scope of her love interests makes her relationship status all the more curious as she could be dating anyone.
But, let’s start at the so-called beginning.

December 2014; Kehlani was officially in a relationship with PartyNextDoor, otherwise known as Jahron Brathwaite. PND is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter and music producer. He even wrote and a song about Kehlani titled ‘Girl From Oakland’ in 2014, and then another one in 2015 called ‘Kehlani’s freestyle’. Their relationship ended in October 2015.
Kyrie Irvin: November 2015-March 2016

She then started seeing NBA star point guard: the then Cleveland Cavaliers, Kyrie Irving. This relationship appears to have been quite messy as the relationship ended with her attempting suicide. After an image was posted of her with PND social media blew up with accusations of her cheating on Irving, even though Irving had previously tweeted an image that the two had broken up. The hundreds of thousands of people on social media at the time didn’t seem to care or take notice but instead blasted Kehlani with posts and negative attention. The attention that was intense enough to lead her towards attempting suicide. After which she made a post on social media explaining that she did not cheat.

PND was by her side at the hospital and during her recovery. They got back together in March of 2016 and broke up a month later.
Shaina Negrón July 2017-November 2017

For about a year after this, Kehlani seems to have taken a year-long break of dating people. Hopefully, this gave her time to heal. In July 2017, she started seeing Shaina Negrón, an American artist. Their relationship last 4 months until their split in November of the same year.
Dave East December 2017-May 2018

The following month she found Dave East, an American rapper, and began dating him in December 2017. Mid-February of this year Kehlani went on Demi Lovato’s the North American Tour. During her time on the “Tell Me You Love Me Tour”, where she was the opening act, there were some serious rumors going around about their relationship, especially after they kissed onstage during one of their concerts. However, nothing came of #Demlani, probably because she was still with her boyfriend Dave East. They eventually broke up in May leaving Kehlani wonderfully single.
Javie Young-White 2018-Present

Kehlani began dating Javie Young-White and is pregnant with his child. They kept their relationship low-key until Kehalni announced she was four months pregnant on her social media in October 2018. He spoke out about the pregnancy on his Twitter and shaded people who didn’t understand how a queer woman and a bisexual man could have a child.
