Golden Globes 2016: Ricky Gervais Roasts Caitlyn Jenner, The Wage Gap & More In Opening Monologue

Ricky Gervais is known for making jokes that make you go gasp allowed and laugh at the same time. For his fourth turn as host of the Golden Globes, he kept up his reputation.

He approached the mic with a glass of beer, of course, fully ready for consumption.

Here’s a few jokes from his Golden Globes monologue that had some people laughing and others covering their mouths. We’re also pretty sure NBC missed the censor button a few times…

On His Excitement To Host Again

“I am going to to do this monologue and then go into hiding. Not even Sean Penn will find me.”

On Caitlyn Jenner’s Big Year

“I’ve changed. Not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously. Now Caitlyn Jenner, of course. She’s become a role model for trans people everywhere. Showing great bravery in breaking down stereotypes. She didn’t do a lot for women drivers. But you can’t have everything. Not at the same time.”

On Taking Home A Trophy

“If you do win tonight, remember nobody cares about that award as much as you do.” There was then a crack about him “shoving Golden Globes up my ass.” “And they asked me to host four times.”

On Jennifer Lawrence’s Famous Wage Gap Essay

“How can a 25 year old live on $52 million?”

Well…J. Law dug it.
