‘Freaky Friday’ Is Getting The Disney Channel Musical Treatment

A journey soon begins…

Or rather, continues. Disney released a Freaky Friday movie in 1976 and 1995 before bringing us the beloved classic with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, and now Disney Channel is adapting the original novel and subsequent movies into a TV musical.

The musical will star La Jolla Playhouse actress Heidi Blickenstaff (who has already played the role on-stage) and Cozi Zuehlsdorff as mother Katherine and daughter Ellie, Playbill reports.

While the idea of a new Freaky Friday makes me feel like the Crypt Keeper, and I will likely spend the entire time sighing wistfully, remembering the guitar solo in “Ultimate” that made me want to form a girl-band and reminiscing over how well LiLo pulled off chunky highlights with cargo pants, I cannot pretend I won’t watch a musical rendition of my childhood favorite.

All I can say is, @ film directors:

Until then, know that nothing will ever replace Lohan’s garage band, Pink Slip.
