Jay-Z rocked the world this weekend by dropping his “Family Feud” music video, featuring an appearance by Beyoncé no one was ready for and starring a slew of famous women who finally get a seat at the table.
In the 8-minute masterpiece, led by Wrinkle in Time director Ava Duvernay, the Founding Mothers (Mindy Kaling, Brie Larson, Rosario Dawson, Janet Mock, Jessica Chastain, Thandie Newton, and Rashida Jones) discuss how to make the constitution more just under what Bustle points out is Blue Ivy’s (played by Susan Kelechi Watson) steady hand.
It seems Jay and Bey are just as ready for their daughter to be leading the country as the rest of us — though 2050 seems much too far away.
The video includes Jay-Z confessing his sins to Beyoncé in church, time jumps, and an impressive roster of celebrities. The entire piece seems to be a testament to the power of women of color, with Watson at one point saying: “America is a family and the whole family should be free.”
Needless to say, Twitter has Lost It™ over the vision of a future Blue Ivy, donning all white, conversing with a tableful of opinionated, strong women.
The Founding Mothers. What else is there to say? I believe in our power. And I appreciate these dynamic artists who came out on a Saturday to represent all kinds of women at the table. Not a seat. ALL THE SEATS! #FamilyFeudFilm pic.twitter.com/LZFTuYBwJn
