While a handful of the Kardashian-Jenner family members are pregnant right now, Kendall Jenner would very much like to be excluded from this narrative.
The oldest Jenner sister posted a bathroom mirror selfie to Instagram yesterday (December 30), donning a tight-fitting polka-dot dress, with the caption “loner life.”
The body-shaming comments immediately poured in as the Internet decided as one that she must be pregnant or gaining weight.
“She’s just bloated.”
“Are they all pregnant?”
Kendall responded to the rumors later that evening, quote-tweeting a news article speculating over her imagined pregnancy.
“I just like bagels ok!!!” she wrote, much to her 25 million followers’ amusement.
While the public can be forgiven for getting swept up in the excitement of the Kardashian-Jenner Year of the Babies, assuming pregnancy is absolutely a form of body-shaming — and is no more okay than commenting on someone’s weight. Kendall’s response to the rumors was good-natured and relatable for all of us with cocoa and toffee-induced food babies, but she should not have been forced to make it.
