Looks like Selena Gomez is starting the new year with a fresh start on Instagram. The singer has unfollowed over 200 people. Now she is only following a whopping 37 accounts and most of them are brands or organizations.

Selena still follows a handful of Selena fan accounts, brands she has sponsorships with, movies she was involved in and a few friends. The people she did unfollow that have people shocked are Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello, Gigi Hadid and the 13 Reasons Why account.

I wouldn’t read into the unfollowing that much. I think like her friend Taylor Swift, who she still follows, she is just rebranding. Selena has spoken candidly about her Instagram use and how sometimes she gets overwhelmed by the fact that she is the most followed user on the platform and takes breaks from the app. She shared in an interview with Vogue that her assistant has her IG password and posts for her.
A lot of changes happened to Selena’s Instagram page last night. Not only did she do a massive unfollowing, but she changed her bio and changed her profile photo to a picture of her mom Mandy Teefey. Recently Selena’s relationship with her mom has been scrutinized by the media following Mandy’s hospital stay. The mother and daughter unfollowed each other on Instagram and Selena is still unfollowing her mom. She is still not following Justin Bieber either.
If anything fans should be excited that Selena is rehauling her IG because typically when stars do that it means a new project is on the way.
