It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions ever since the Spice Girls reunited in February. Reunion tour rumors have been confirmed and denied left and right. Now Mel B (Sporty Spice) is saying the best-selling girl group is going back on tour.
Mel B went on The Today Show to confirm that the group is going on tour. “I’m the only one that keeps on saying we’re going to be performing, which we are gonna be performing,” she told host Hoda Kotb.
Kotb mentioned that Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) keeps denying the reunion rumors. “She’s always saying that. Stop it. We are touring,” Mel B retorted. “Should I have really said that out loud? Yes, we are going to be doing performances together for sure.”
Their reunion photo made the rounds on social media when it was initially posted and of course, the rumors have been crazy.
A few weeks after the photo was shared Beckham told Vogue UK that she’s not going on tour and neither is the group. “I’m not going on a tour. The girls aren’t going on a tour,” she said.
“There’s something so strong in the message of what the Spice Girls stood for,” Beckham continued. “What is that in the future? What does that look like? We were just bouncing ideas around — brainstorming. I think there’s so much that the brand can do, and it’s such a positive message for young kids.”
So Beckham says the meeting was to work on the group’s brand. But then Mel B swooped in and said the group is reuniting and performing at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s royal wedding. She also said that the group was invited to the wedding, but only Beckham was at the ceremony. The after party was kept uber private, but it’s doubtful that a secret Spice Girls performance took place.
Then it was announced that the reunion was to discuss another Spice Girls movie. The alleged second Spice Girls movie wouldn’t be a sequel to Spice World but will have the Spice Girls in it nonetheless. The movie is supposed to be a superhero cartoon movie about the Spice Girls and will be voiced by the girl group.
But now after ALL of that Mel B says they will be touring after all. Fingers crossed that Mel B is right.
