Cardi B has given birth to baby girl, Kulture Kiari Cephus, on Tuesday night in Atlanta with her husband Offset by her side. This is Cardi’s first child and Offset’s fourth.
The couple named their daughter Kulture Kiari, which holds a lot of meaning for the couple. Kulture is based on Offset’s rap career with the group Migos. Their last two albums were called Culture and Culture II. Migos regularly sing about doing things “for the culture,” so it’s not crazy that they named their daughter Kulture.
Why it’s spelled it with a K is all Cardi. She notoriously doesn’t like using the letter “C” because of her gang affiliation. So, of course, she wasn’t going to name her kid anything with the letter “C.”
Kulture’s middle name Kiari is Offset’s real first name. Offset’s legal name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus.
In February there was speculation that Cardi was pregnant. The rapper debuted her baby bump during her Saturday Night Live performance in April. She was wearing a long white Christian Siriano gown and the camera perfectly panned down to reveal her bump.
Cardi has since been posting hilarious tweets, videos and Instagrams about her pregnancy. They’ve mostly been how uncomfortable she feels, how she can’t sleep and what she’s craving to eat. She kept it 100% real while pregnant, and we love her even more because of it.
In June it was discovered that the “engaged” couple was actually married. Cardi and Offset got hitched in in September 2017. Speculation that the couple was already married when Offset thanked his wife during the BET Awards on June 24.
They threw a lavish over the top baby shower for baby Bardi at the end of June. The baby shower was dubbed “Bardi Shower: A Bronx Fairytale.” Everything was baby pink and there were ballerinas, a makeshift bodega and a Bardi baby library stacked with children books.
Kulture’s birth comes at a very historic time in Cardi’s career. She became the first female rapper to have two number 1 singles. Most recently her single “I Like It” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin hit number 1 on the Billboard Top 100 chart. This is of course her second number 1, her single “Bodak Yellow” was her first song to hit this milestone.
Congrats to the couple and baby Kulture. What do you think of Kulture’s name?
