While Tiffany Haddish’s life might be glamorous now, the comedian’s childhood was nothing short of heartbreaking. At the age of three, her father abandoned her family. Five years later her mother was in a car accident, which resulted in severe brain trauma. Soon after Haddish’s mother was unable to care for her and her four siblings so the children were placed in foster care.
While in foster care Haddish used comedy as a coping mechanism. A social worker noticed her love of comedy and gave her the ultimatum of either attending therapy or the Laugh Factory Comedy Camp. Before graduating high school, Haddish and her siblings were reunited with their grandmother. After graduating, Haddish decided to pursue standup comedy in LA while living out of her car and struggling to make ends meet.
After making many guest appearances on TV shows like That’s So Raven and Chelsea Lately she landed a starring role on The Carmichael Show. In 2017 Tiffany Haddish quickly rose to fame after the hit movie Girl’s Trip was released. Since then she has been busy shooting films with Kevin Hart, hosting the VMAs and partying with Beyoncé. Haddish and William Stewart were married for five years. The pair have been married and divorced twice. The first divorce occurred in 2011 with the final dissolution in 2013. Her memoir, The Last Black Unicorn revealed that Stewart was physically abusive, and resulted in Haddish filing for a restraining order.
