Selena Gomez Reportedly Hospitalized For An Emotional Breakdown

Selena Gomez has supposedly been hospitalized twice in the last two weeks. According to TMZ, the cause for the second hospitalization was an emotional breakdown.

According to their sources, the 26-year-old was at her home in Studio City, CA when she was first taken to the hospital. She was emotional over and worried over her low white blood cell count due to her kidney transplant. Her family drove her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Gomez was released from the hospital a day later. But she soon returned to the hospital because she was on another emotional rampage after her low white blood cell count continued.

After Gomez was admitted to the hospital again she wanted to leave but wasn’t allowed to. “We’re told Selena had ‘a meltdown’ and ‘freaked out.’ Selena tried ripping the IV’s out of her arm,” TMZ reported. “Several sources called the episode ‘an emotional breakdown.'”

Gomez was moved from the hospital and entered a psychiatric facility on the east coast. She is supposedly receiving dialectical behavior therapy there. Gomez has received DBT in the past and it treats various mental health illnesses.

On September 23 Gomez posted on Instagram saying she is going to be taking a social media break, something she does regularly. “Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi,” she wrote on her last post.

Before she took a break from Instagram Gomez did an Instagram Live. She answered fan questions and said that she was depressed for five years.

This isn’t the first time Gomez has spoken about her mental illnesses. In her March 2018 cover story for Harper’s Bazaar, she talked about her depression and anxiety.

“I’ve had a lot of issues with depression and anxiety, and I’ve been very vocal about it, but it’s not something I feel I’ll ever overcome.” Gomez elaborated, “I think it’s a battle I’m gonna have to face for the rest of my life, and I’m okay with that because I know that I’m choosing myself over anything else. I’m starting my year off with that thought.”

In February 2018 Gomez completed a two-week outpatient treatment for depression and anxiety at a facility in New York City. She had phone access while staying at the facility and could leave whenever she wanted to explore the city. People reports that she loved it so much she wanted to go back again before 2018 is over.
