Gymnasts have been coming forward as part of the #MeToo movement accusing that former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar abused them. McKayla Maroney was the first of the 140 some accusers to publicly claim that Nassar abused and molested her. She was followed by former teammate Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas and then Simone Biles.

It’s been revealed that in December 2016 she filed a lawsuit against USA Gymnastics. She received a $1.25 million settlement from the organization if she agreed to sign a non-disclosure agreement to never speak about her abuse and molestation from Nassar. If she breaks the NDA she will be fined $100,000. This will prevent Maroney from speaking out against Nassar at his sentencing this upcoming week.

Chrissy Teigen read about the NDA and the fine and was rightfully upset that Maroney would be fined for speaking the truth. She offered to pay for Maroney’s $100,000 giving her the financial opportunity to speak out against her accuser if she wishes.

Maroney is currently suing USA Gymnastics for making her sign the NDA agreement and trying to silence her abuse. the US Olympic Committee and Nassar’s former employer Michigan State University are also named in the suit for protecting Nassar and his abuse.

Maroney already broke her NDA by posting about her abuse on her social media platforms that have all been deleted.

Teigen is a pretty outspoken celebrity and follows through on her promise, remember when she asked Twitter for brown bananas? Hopefully, now that her legal fines will be covered Maroney will finally get to say her piece about Nassar in court.
