There are more than a few things we hesitate on swiping our card for. That overpriced green smoothie with whey protein and added vitamins? You might be better off sticking to your usual coffee. The latest makeup palette after we just splurged on Kylie Jenner’s newest collection? We could probably hold off for a bit. But one thing we wouldn’t second guess spending money on, something we’ve been imagining since we were little, is our wedding.
Yes, of course, we can justify spending thousands on our dream dress that will only be worn for one night. Obviously, the seven-tier wedding cake with floral detailing is a necessity. Our wedding day is one of the most important days of our lives so it’s easy for us to have that “Take all my money and run” mindset. According to Brides, the cost of weddings has increased exponentially over the years as couples, ok brides, have become more innovative in their venue choices among other decisions. I mean, this couple recently married above a canyon. While us peasants might already be splurging a ton on our wedding, imagine the cost of that of a royal couple.
Well, the cost of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s spring wedding was just revealed, and it’s jaw-dropping. According to Bridebook, the wedding cost will be $2,758,019 in USD. Don’t forget, this doesn’t even include the cost of the honeymoon or security. CBS News reported that Kate Middleton and Prince William’s 2011 wedding was a similar amount of about $2 million, while another $32 million was dedicated just for security.
Of course, the cost factors in the fact that there will be a high amount of guests, of about 800, compared to the average amount. There’s also the post-ceremony events of which there will no doubt be no shortage of people to entertain and feed.
Luckily, we’ll be able to see if the royal couple gets their money’s worth when we watch it all on TV. Don’t forget to plan your viewing party for the big day on May 19th, it’s going to be lavish.
