Last Friday The Weeknd dropped an EP and it’s done fairly well on the charts. But most importantly almost every song sounds like it’s about Selena Gomez his most recent ex-girlfriend. There’s one song that people believe is about Bella Hadid, his other ex-girlfriend, which is also juicy.
But we aren’t here to discuss Hadid, sorry, we are here to talk about whether or not The Weeknd was going to give Gomez a kidney.
Now on The Weeknd’s latest EP, My Dear Melancholy, he hints in his song “Call Out My Name” that he was about to give Gomez a kidney.
A lot of fans, myself included, freaked out that The Weeknd almost gave up a kidney, which is a big deal, and now the two are broken up.
Now sources are saying that The Weekend was never going to give Gomez a kidney in the first place. “It’s just a lyric and he knew it would strum up attention and that people would interpret it exactly as they have, but he was never actually going to donate his kidney to Selena,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.
“Sure, he was her boyfriend at the time, so it perhaps crossed his mind to get tested to see if he was a match – which is incredibly rare – but it never got anywhere close to actually happening.”
The insider does have a point. Being a match for someone to donate a kidney to is very rare, that’s why it was so amazing that Gomez’s friend Francia Raisa was a match and donated her kidney.
“Selena would never, ever have asked him,” the source added. “She wouldn’t have even wanted him to even entertain the idea! It was difficult enough for her to allow a lifelong friend to do it, but a new boyfriend? No way.”
Even Raisa has said that she went behind Gomez’s back to get tested as a potential match because Gomez didn’t want anyone close to her to feel obligated to donate. So maybe The Weeknd also got tested and was mentally prepared to give up a kidney, but it never came close to actually doing it.
Who knows what really happened! I like to think that The Weeknd was holding a jar with his kidney in it, offering it up to Gomez and she went, “Nah, also I’m dating Justin Bieber now.”
