The Met Gala was last night and the world’s most famous and fashionable ascended the Metropolitan Museum stairs. This year’s theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” and shockingly almost everyone dressed to theme. In recent years the theme seemed optional to many attendees. You could always count on heavy hitters like Rihanna, Zendaya and Sarah Jessica Parker to bring the fashion every year and it looks like their influence is finally being seen.
That being said there were a few people who showed up as if the Met Gala carpet was no different than any old red carpet. As much as us plebian onlookers love an iconic look, we also love a flop. There would be no hilarious Met Gala tweets without them!

Before we kick off this hilarious fashion Twitter roast, let’s just acknowledge these tweets that are calling out everyone for judging the Met looks. Is the internet unqualified to judge? Yes. Will it still continue to do so? Absolutely.

The theme was Catholic symbolism in fashion and many of the pieces in the exhibit are from the Vatican. Some people took this as an opportunity to bronze themselves up like Gigi Hadid’s Vogue Italia cover. Selena Gomez was a victim of this, and many people pointed out how her legs did not match the rest of her body’s bronze hue. Kylie Jenner also followed suit.

Beyonce did not go to this year’s Met Gala. Even though she wasn’t present on the Met steps, her fans made it known that she has killed this theme time and time again.

Taylor Swift was also absent from the event because she’s rehearsing for her upcoming tour. But don’t worry a fan photoshopped her onto the steps.

Nicki Minaj looked devilishly ethereal in a red ombre Oscar de la Renta gown. While on the carpet she revealed her next album’s title, Queen and its release date, June 15.

Minaj and Cardi B also had a moment inside the Met. The two rappers have had a rocky relationship so far. Minaj talked about it during her Zane Lowe Beats 1 Radio interview. Looks like the ladies have cleared the air and are at least on speaking terms.

Lisa Koshy, a popular YouTuber, attended this year’s gala. Her outfit is being ridiculed for being not just basic, but underwhelming. She wore black booties, a black bodysuit and a lace mini dress over the top.

Jared Leto rolled up to the event decked out in Gucci. His ornate look was on theme, but that didn’t stop people from making fun of it.

New parents, Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott rolled up to the Met looking more Sy-Fy than biblical. They were wearing Alexander Wang and were critiqued for their abstract interpretation of the theme if they even considered the theme at all.

Speaking of the Jenners, Kris Jenner unknowingly recreated her iconic “You’re doing amazing sweetie” moment last night while photographing Kylie and Scott coming up the stairs.

Kendall Jenner showed up in an Off-White jumpsuit. Twitter was hard pressed to find any religious symbolism in her outfit that wasn’t a dig.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen showed up wearing precisely what you’d expect, him in a tux and her in a slinky dress. They practically wear the same thing to every Met Gala.

Grimes and Elon Musk attended the gala together announcing that they’re dating. Everyone had feelings about this couple that were overwhelmingly negative. Grimes also wore a Tesla-inspired choker.
