You’re Truly Adulting Once You Stop Having These Arguments

Arguing has to be one of the most exhausting things to do–especially when it is unnecessary and petty. It can break up all types of relationships–friends, family, and partners. It is upsetting when you have an argument with someone you care about and it is even worse if the argument ends up ending your relationship with the person.

But how many of these arguments are actually even necessary? There are SO many petty fights that happen over things that don’t even matter.

These are some types of arguments that no longer need attention while you’re an adult. Sure arguments will still happen but there are certain things that just don’t matter.

1. Fights With Your BFF Over Everything

It’s easy to get into fights with your BFF over everything and anything. But once you’re an adult–learn to let the little things go. They didn’t like your latest Insta post? So what? Maybe it didn’t show up on their timeline or maybe they weren’t checking their phone that day (AKA a reason that has nothing to do with you).

2. Arguments On Social Media

The high school days are over and any arguments over social media are useless. It definitely can be hard to ignore someone you know who is clearly wrong on Twitter or Facebook but just let it go. Most of the time responding back won’t change the person’s mind and oftentimes the person is seeking for attention anyway. There are so many better places to put your energy than a social media fight.

3. Arguing With Either (Or Both) Of Your Parents When You Know They’re Right

It’s hard to admit faults–we know. But once you can take in the lessons your parents are trying to teach you and change you’ll be better for it. They’ll never stop wanting to teach you and its such an adult thing to do to admit when you’re wrong and accept a lesson.

4. Arguing With Your Partner Over Small Disagreements

Sure there are things you should debate but it is impossible for your partner to agree with all of your opinions and thoughts. It’s best to keep the conversation calm and collected and to end it if it gets out of hand.

5. Arguing With Your Siblings About Past Things

Maybe your sibling threw sand in your face once when you were three years old. And maybe this was something that came up often while you were kids but it’s time to let that go and focus on the good times when you were kids. Arguing about things one of you may not even remember is a waste of time.

6. Arguing With Friends About Not Seeing Them Enough

Everyone in their 20s is super busy and you can’t grab a meal together every day like in college. People are busy with long workdays and just want to rest when returning home. Life can get crazy, but true friends will always be there for you no matter how long it has been since you have seen them–a true adult understanding of friendship!

Arguing is a part of life for sure but arguments like these are completely unnecessary. Arguments should be framed differently–rather as conversations as adults. Whether they are about money or uncomfortable life conversations (that don’t have to be framed as arguments because not everyone thinks just like you).
