On July 24, 2018, news broke that Demi Lovato has suffered a drug overdose and was hospitalized. Initially, it was reported that Lovato overdosed on heroin, but that turns out to be wrong. TMZ now says that the singer overdosed on Oxycodone laced with fentanyl.
TMZ claims that their sources have “direct knowledge” of the situation. They say that Lovato texted a drug dealer after she was out celebrating her backup dancer, Dani Vitale’s birthday on July 23. Vitale released a statement on Instagram claiming she wasn’t with Lovato when she overdosed, but many fans are blaming the dancer for Lovato’s actions.
After Vitale’s birthday party at Saddle Ranch on Sunset Strip, Lovato partied in WeHo. She supposedly texted a dealer and the dealer met her at her house in Hidden Hills. TMZ reports that Lovato has been using this dealer since April 2018.
It was there that reportedly Lovato and the dealer smoked Oxy “on tin foil.” Unknowingly to Lovato the Oxy was laced with fentanyl. That’s the same drug that killed Prince and Lil Peep. Supposedly the dealer “fled the home” when he saw Lovato laying in bed breathing heavily. The timeline for this is still unknown.
Her assistant found Lovato unconscious in her room around 11:30 A.M. on July 24th. She was revived with Narcan, which is an emergency treatment for narcotic overdoses.
After Lovato’s two week stint in the hospital he posted a statement on her Instagram saying she is going to focus on her sobriety.
Lovato has since entered rehab and will supposedly be in rehab for 30 days minimum.
