Taylor Swift is viewing 2017 with rose-colored glasses. Yes, the singer made a comeback and released her wildly successful album Reputation, she won her groping lawsuit and her and her boyfriend Joe Alwyn took their relationship public. It was a great year for Taylor, but not everyone is a multi-millionaire pop star.
Taylor Swift reflects on 2017: "I couldn't have asked for a better year." https://t.co/m1tKqWJLhx pic.twitter.com/FvWH28vH7O

In an Instagram post about Jingle Bell Ball Taylor wrote how she “couldn’t have asked for a better year.”

But in reality, this year could have wildly better. This year was notoriously the worst year ever. There was the white supremacist march on Charlottesville, Virgina, the largest mass shooting occurred in Las Vegas, Hurricane Harvey and Irma devasted the south and so much more.
People on Twitter were quick to point on how 2017 was actually a terrible year. They couldn’t do it on Instagram because Taylor has comments blocked on all of her posts.
I mean, yeah there were Nazi's and white supremacy marches, and families are being town apart, and there were mass shootings, and people are losing health care, but none of that affects me, so 2017 was great!

But people quickly pointed out that Taylor was talking about her personal year and not the year overall. But still, if you were affected by the many tragedies that happened this year then your personal year wasn’t great either.
Gasp Taylor Swiftβs personal life was good this year, clearly she isnβt paying attention to the rest of the world.
Saying your personal year was good says literally nothing about the social/political state. A year can be shit socially but good to you regarding personal growth.

Taylor notoriously is very quiet about political issues. Choosing to not be politically vocal is a privilege that she has because she’s white and wealthy.
Yeah, Taylor had a great personal year, but overall 2017 was a big downer.
